The Woman
Jacquelyn Kammerer Cattaneo was born in Gallup, NM, and grew up experiencing the unique atmosphere of the Southwest. As a spectator of many ethnic groups and the hypnotic light that enhances the New Mexico landscape, she has developed an intuitive approach to her subject's aura, be it a portrait, tree or landscape. Her ability to capture an individual's inner essence as well as vibrant likeness enhances the increasing demand for her sensitive paintings.

The Accomplishments
Her art is acclaimed worldwide and collected by patrons through the United States. She is listed in Who's Who in American Art, a signature member of The Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC), holding a double membership in oil and soft pastel in the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club since 1984, and was awarded permanent certification by the American Portrait Society (APSC) in 1985. She has earned a signature membership in The Pastel Society of America (PSA). Her work was included in an issue of the International Artist Magazine in 2005, featuring a soft pastel landscape. In 2007, two of her paintings were chosen to be published by Kennedy Publishing for inclusion in THE BEST OF AMERICA'S PASTELS.

Jacquelyn's personal statement on "In Reverence"

Never exhibited before, "In Reverence" is a new series of graceful images that explores the soul of the innocent child and then transforms their passions and thoughts onto the canvas. I paint what I find to be truly beautiful, pristine and heart warming. I try to recreate the world as a child sees is, something uniquely beautiful and intense in its timelessness, a window to the soul's journey and a child's world.

I believe that most people relate to children because they are honest and unbiased in their actions and statements, a quality sometimes lost in adulthood. The world becomes more complicated as we age, and I feel a relief from what we see daily in the ever-present media is both needed and necessary.

"In Reverence" is designed for the viewer to find a quiet, serene place to retreat and appreciate those timeless moments that we too often neglect and forget. Viewing these paintings is meant to be a journey back to a time and place of peace, faith and innocence.

I believe that an artist is a special person who searches for truths and strives tenaciously to record such statements. Artists are geared to develop concepts of painting, train the eye, and become sensitive to natural as well as metaphysical stimuli. In portraiture, the depiction of the human element, individual diginity and spirit are learned only through living.
