A. Carracci depicts the lamentation of Jesus Christ by the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, Mary of Cleophas, and another holy woman. The Sorrowful Mother has collapsed while holding the body of her Divine Son in her lap. One of the other women holds Our Lady while the remaining two women look on with expressions of distress on their faces, wringing their hands.
