Professional Imaging Process: |
Inks (the kind made to last):
We use the most modern and high-end printing process available today, which is able to duplicate any original with the highest amount of exactitude. Giclee (gee-clay), a French noun meaning “fine spray” defines the process for these prints. We use museum-grade, pigment-based inks, which are specifically designed to maintain their color vibrancy and accuracy for many more years than the inks which most printers use. Because the inks are pigment based on not dye based, they have a higher price tag than the majority of inks available today. The main perk for buying a Giclee is that the colors will not fade as in the case of old photographs. Properly taken care of, you should be able to give these prints to your children and grandchildren in the same condition you received them from us. It's simple, really. Do you want to buy a new Sacred Heart print every few years after the colors fade, or do you want to bite the bullet, and buy one for life?
The Giclee process utilizes a minimum of eight separate cartridges of inks that, combined, will reproduce far more accurate color than other printing processes. This is often the preferred process of many listed artists and museums around the world for art reproduction due to the archival standards that are met as well as the quality, precision, and fading resistance of the colors produced by the inks.
Media (the stuff we print it on):
All of our images are printed on either Heavy Weight, Archival-Rag paper or Museum-Grade Canvas. This rag paper is 100% cotton based, Acid-Free, has a bright white surface, and a slight surface texture similar to canvas. This medium is specifically designed to absorb and hold inks better and longer than other papers. It is also the choice of many artists who wish to reproduce their artwork because it gives colors more vibrancy like photo-paper (but without the glossy finish), has a slight texture like canvas, and is made to last longer than other media.

The Framing Process (Custom-Based Options): |
|
Dry-Mounting:
After printing your Giclee image and waiting several days for the inks to properly cure on the media, your Catholic-art print is then professionally dry-mounted to acid-free foam board. Dry mounting is a process where a sheet of heat activated adhesive is placed between the Catholic-art print and foam board, and then put into a dry mounting press at 250 degrees F. This press is like a big, flat iron that squeezes all the air out from between the print and foam board -- permanently securing it to the foam board. This method prevents your Catholic Artwork from slipping in its frame and also prevents small air bubbles from developing under the print over the years.
Matting:
We custom cut the mat board to the size of each print. Each piece of Artwork is made-to-order.
Glazing/ Glass:
After each print is printed, pressed, mounted and matted; it is put in the frame style of your choice behind Non-Glare Acrylic glass. Each piece of Acrylic is professionally cleaned and polished before being mounted into its frame. As a final touch, the print and glazing are blown with High-pressure air to make sure any particles of dust do not get sealed within it.
Backing:
When the Artwork is placed behind the glazing in the frame and it is perfectly clean, it is then secured to the inside of the frame with a framer’s gun that shoots rigid steel staples horizontally into the frame. This ensures image stability over time. We then secure black framers paper to the back of the frame using a double-faced adhesive dispensed from a roller. The paper seals the back of the frame preventing dust from getting in the back and, well, it looks better. After this, the edges of the paper are sanded for a smooth, clean finish.
Hanging:
Each frame has two metal hangers secured to its sides with Philips screws. Framers wire connects both of the hangers and makes for easy hanging and centering on your part. We leave an extra length of wire coiled at either end so you can adjust the wire’s length if you will.
